spellquizzer review and giveaway

I had so much fun doing this review. I got to review Spell Quizzer. What is spell quizzer? SpellQuizzer is a spelling program for helping children learn their spelling words. You enter the child's spelling word and you record it. This is the fun part i got creative. One of chloes spelling words was zebra. I said chloe rode the wild zebra down the street. I tried to use her name or a family members name in each spelling word. the next morning when I was making breakfast she was laughing as she was doing spellquizzer. It is always easier to stick with something when it is fun. She cant wait till next weeks word. I cant wait to see how she does on this test.

I am not the best speller so I was worried i would put in a word wrong and cause her to spell it wrong. Spellquizzer has a built-in spellchecker that recognizes both US and UK English spellings. The spellchecker warns the user when creating a spelling list if they enter a word that appears to be spelled incorrectly.

There is a page on the site specifically directed toward homeschoolers There are also several free downloadable spelling lists for SpellQuizzer. These lists include pre-made sound recordings.

There are so many things i like about spellquizzer. It is a down loadable program. I have a aspire netbook with no cd drive so I cant use the learning cds they sell at the store.
I hate when we are doing spelling words and we are uninterrupted by Andrew (age 2) turn on the shower or other fun things he does. I record her spelling list at night when everyone is sleeping. It was very easy to install. Since you put in the spelling list it grows with you child and you can use it with other children in the house.

Spellquizzer is giving a free license to one of my readers!
to enter just got to spellquizzer and tell me one thing you learned.
blog about this giveaway and show me the link for another entry

I like the "reminder phrase" function when creating a spelling list.

By the way, the demos are well done.

Thanks!

I like that if your child doesn't get it right it corrects and retests after.

I learned that the SpellQuizzer plays back the words you recorded, waits for the student to type in the correct spelling and lets the student know how he or she did. amsbolda@hotmail.com

I like the re-testing feature and I have a student who would love this

I learned that- Spelling software helps students learn their spelling lists more quickly than traditional manual practice, such as writing down words by hand, because it is less of a chore for the child.

i can't seem to find whether it's MAC compatible.

I too am a horrible speller and my son is doing ok but I can see that all the 'exceptions' to the rules are already getting to him. But he LOVES the computer so this would be perfect....if it would work on my mac.
